Sometimes you’ll need to move categories or articles to another folder for better organization. Helpjuice makes this process simple whether you’re working from the dashboard or within the editor.

In this article, you’ll learn:

  • How to move content from the Dashboard
  • How to reassign categories and articles in the Editor
  • Troubleshooting common issues with category changes
  • How to display articles in multiple categories without duplicating them

Moving Content via the Dashboard

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Select the content (category and/or article) you want to move.
  3. Click Actions > Move Content.
  4. Choose the new Main Category.

Moving Content via the Article Editor

  1. Open a new or existing article.
  2. In the top header, click on the current category (e.g., Support Home).
  3. Select the new destination for your article.

Troubleshooting: Category Changes Reverting?

If your category changes aren’t saving, check accessibility rules:

  • Public categories: Can contain public, internal, or private subcategories/articles.
  • Internal categories: Can only contain internal or private content. (URL-Only categories act as internal.)
  • Private categories: Can only contain private content and must have the same or fewer users/groups as the parent category.

For more details, see Overview: Accessibility.

Displaying Articles in Multiple Categories

You don’t need to duplicate content if an article belongs in more than one category. Helpjuice allows you to display a single article across multiple categories. Learn more here → How To Display Articles In Multiple Categories .

Best Practices

  • Plan your category structure before moving content.
  • Use the “display in multiple categories” feature instead of duplicating articles.
  • Always verify accessibility rules when moving content between categories.
