Categories and subcategories in Helpjuice help you keep your knowledge base clean, structured, and easy to navigate. By grouping content logically, your readers can quickly find what they need without scrolling through endless articles.

Creating Categories

You can create a new category in several ways, depending on where you’re working in Helpjuice.

From the Dashboard

  1. Access your Dashboard.
  2. Click the New Category + button at the top right of the page.
 
 

From the Main Page Sidebar

  1. Access your Dashboard.
  2. Hover over the Dashboard category on the sidebar.
  3. Hover over the + icon on the right side of the category.
  4. Click Category.
 
 

From the Editor

  1. Access the Editor.
  2. Click on the Category Picker to open the Choose Category modal.
  3. Click the New Category button at the bottom of the modal.
 
 

Creating Subcategories

Subcategories let you organize content into deeper layers. You can create as many subcategory levels as needed.

From the Dashboard

  1. Access your Dashboard.
  2. Open the category where you want the subcategory to appear.
  3. Click the New Category + button at the top left of the page.
 
 

From the Main Page Sidebar

  1. Access your Dashboard.
  2. Hover over the category where you want the subcategory.
  3. Hover over the + icon on the right side of the category.
  4. Click Category.

 
 

From the Editor

  1. Access the Editor.
  2. Click on the Category Picker to open the Choose Category modal.
  3. Hover over the category where you want the subcategory.
  4. Click the + icon.
 
 

Best Practices

  • Keep category names short and descriptive.
  • Don’t create too many levels of subcategories because this can impact the frontend performance, especially if you have a sidemap implemented.
  • Review your structure regularly to keep it logical.
  • Place articles in the most specific category possible.
